Commonly known as “the Leighton dog beach” this generous tract is more properly called “Mosman Beach”. It stretches from the south side of the Beach Street Groyne through to the City of Fremantle boundary.

This long beach offers the prospect of exercise for dog and handler alike with swimming opportunities in the gently shelving shallows. The sand is not yet the classic white of the beaches to the North but nor is it the depressing grey of Cockburn. The view over the dune along Marine Parade is of holiday style homes set amongst towering pines, while to the south the brightly painted red and white cranes of the port seem anything but “industrial” in character. The beach is neither too crowded nor too solitary, and the walkers are sociable. All in all a very good place to spend a Sunday morning
